How to Use Your Hemstitching Machine

Questions and Answers

Q. Do you preshrink your material?

Once material is washed, it never looks quite as nice to me. I never preshrink my fabric and have never had any problems with it. I do tell whomever I give the blanket to how to wash it. I sometimes just include washing instructions on a card.

Q. How do I wash my blanket after I crochet it?

When washing my blankets I simply remove them from the dryer while they are still damp, grasp two opposite sides and gently pull. Go all the way around the blanket and then let it air dry. It only takes a minute to do and your blankets will look great for years. I do this whether the material was preshrunk or not!

Q. At what craft shows can I find you?

Right now we are planning on being at the Phoenix Craft and Sewing Festival which is at the Phoenix Fair Grounds in November and January. Next year (2003) we are planning on doing more shows in more areas. I will keep you posted!

Q. Can I bring you my own fabric?

Yes! You can buy that really irresistible fabric that would not let you out of the store and bring it to us. You can go through your closet and pull out all of the flannel that has been calling your name for years.

The cost is one dollar per running yard. That means that if it is a 36 X 36 blanket it will cost $4.00 to go all the way around it, four yards. You can call to find out how much fabric you should buy, but here is some simple measurements to remember:

  • A yard and a quarter(one for the front and one for the back) makes - a large blanket, a car seat, or three doll sets.
  • A yard (front and back) can make - a medium blanket, a small kit, eight burp cloths or eight bibs.

You don't have to cut the fabric, just bring it over and we will take care of it for you.
